Howdy! I've been a bit preoccupied with life with I'm back!
Here is everything I’ve made since my last post… on June 9th. Gulp, here goes!
I sewed a few felt buddies for the kids and also a Hello Kitty one for our neighbor.
There are great patterns on Etsy for these felt creatures. I just winged it and obviously only used what craft supplies I had on hand which is why their eyes don’t look as whimsical as they ought.
I also dropped off 8 mugs for their glaze firing and they turned out PERFECTLY!

The week before we went back to the states to visit family I got gastro and had to sit in bed for two days. I watched Mythbusters, drank sprite and ate saltines while painting this bowl and little dish.
The bowl has a little surprise in the inside that I'm going to keep to myself until it’s fired. The bottom has a banana in the Richard Scarry illustration style (which is a hint to what the surprise on the inside of the bowl is)
I also painted a mug with a stripey base and an assortment of pansies around the cup. I am loving the curly cue handle... and praying it actually is a functional handle instead of an awkward mass on the side of the cup.
While I was in America I made this baby quilt for my beloved friend Beth. She is having a beautiful baby boy in October and she planned her baby shower around me being in town.
My delightful niece Anna helped me with the quilt blocks. Bailey also gets a mention as well because she helped me round up the quilt blocks while they were being assembled.
I played bias tape chicken and won!
I was also able to convince my dad and sister to go take a pottery class while I was in town and it was so amusing.
My sister’s review: “yeah, my suspicions about me + pottery were confirmed: it’s just not something I’m really interested in. I don’t think I'll be going again” 😂
I'm secretly waiting for her to make a complete 180 when she picks up the finished piece, but if not, I can make peace with being her pottery supplier. 💕
My dad, the avid hobby collector that he is, was desperately trying to get reps in so he could get all the screw ups out of the way and just be good at it. His approach reminded me a lot of my first approach to pottery.
My teacher had to keep reining me in and reminding me not to go ahead unless I wanted to on my own (which I did not).
