As previously shown drying in my last blog post I knitted a soft white tank top with alternating stripes! I’ve pulled it off the drying mats, tried it on and it fits very nicely.
Story time:
I’d been sitting on this gorgeous Hank of MCN (merino, cashmere, nylon) yarn since I bought it on my trip to Texas with my sister in 2022.
I only got one skein (as it was an indie dyed yarn) and figured I was savvy enough that I could turn it into a lightweight tank top by choosing a large gauge and force a little yarn to go a long way.
I tried knitting up the tank top a couple years ago but it just didn’t look right so I undid it, soaked the yarn to un-shape it and re-hanked it and let it sit in time-out in my yarn box.
This time when I attempted it again, I took a more calculated approach: if I add stripes, it’ll use less yarn.
My theory was correct and I ended up with a small ball of the soft white MCN yarn leftover!
This tank top is exactly as I envisioned: it’s really light, drapey, breathable, it lands at the perfect place on my hips and it fits perfectly in every other way.
I am elated to show you that I finally finished my layering flower tank top! I'm not sure if I love it yet… I imagine I just need to find the right top to put underneath it. 💝
In just three weeks we will be visiting our family in America!
Since I'm a frugal lady, I rarely ship anything over for birthdays or holidays so whenever we get the chance to visit, my suitcase is 45% presents 55% personal items for the trip.
I'm in the middle of sewing gifts and this week I'm focusing on pot holders and bowl cozies.
Below is a bowl cozy I made for my granddad and some pot holders I made for my lovely mother. The fabric was thrifted ❣️
I didn’t have any cotton batting so the batting for this project was a quilted duvet cover that didn’t fit our duvet quite right so I retired it and repurposed it!
Did you know in Australia they call a duvet a “doona?”
So far I’ve made 4 bowl cozies and 2 sets of pot holders.
